Membership

OICCU is an evangelical body and is a member of the Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship (UCCF) which is itself affiliated to the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students (IFES). Membership of the OICCU is open to all undergraduates who are in agreement with our Basis of Membership:

I desire in joining this Union to declare my faith in Jesus Christ as my Saviour, my Lord and God. I also declare my intention to support God's work in the Union as expressed in the three aims by praying, giving and participating in its activities and witness at every level.

Our aims are:

• To present the claims of Jesus Christ to members of the University;
• To unite in fellowship those who desire to witness for Christ, and to deepen their spiritual life;
• To promote involvement in God's work worldwide.

In order to achieve our aims, events are organised centrally and in colleges. Centrally, OICCU puts on prayer times, outreach events, and Bible teaching, including events specifically for international students that would be less effective on a smaller scale. At a college level we are able to make friends, and support one another in prayer and fellowship more personally in our individual evangelism.
