OICCU's aims
The OICCU has three aims - the advancement of the Christian religion as revealed in the Bible by:
- Presenting the claims of Jesus Christ to the University - we are not an ordinary university society, because we exist not so much for our members as our non-members (that is, non-Christians). Our natural response as gospel Christians should be to get together and proclaim the good news of Christ in our colleges for God's glory and for the sake of the lost.
- Uniting in fellowship those who desire to witness for Christ, and to deepen their spiritual life - as Christians we are commanded to preserve the unity we have in Christ. We are already perfectly united as a universal church in Christ, but until Christ returns we must work hard to stand together in gospel work. When we do this our unity itself becomes a witness to the gospel: our unity highlights the truth and beauty of the gospel we proclaim.
- Promoting involvement in God's work worldwide - as a small part of the worldwide community of gospel Christians our desire to witness in oure university, will spill over into a passion for gospel work globally to the glory of God
Our mission statement, which tries to incorporate these aims, is that the OICCU exists to be a united student community to witness for Christ.
