http://www.lovecowley.org.uk - new website

Love Cowley started in 2006 as people from different Church groups met and realised they all had a passion for the Cowley/East Oxford area. They got together to share ideas and chat about what they had been up to. And they noticed that other groups and Churches wanted exactly the same thing: to have a positive impact on the area. It was then decided to link people together to share ideas, resources and experiences. So the first ‘Gathering’ took place. For the last couple of years we have relied on a mailing list to keep everyone informed of events and activities in the Cowley area. But we have always intended to have a website with a monthly newsletter as we think this is a much better way of facilitating communication and as it offers so much more than a mailing list. So we are pleased to see the website finally come to fruition.

Summer Mission Trip to China

Wondering what to do this summer? fancy stretching yourself, doing something totally new, meeting amazing new people and above all serving God and sharing His love in China? If so, we would love to hear from you! ISEC is an organisation that takes students from Oxford, Cambridge and Ivy League unis in the States to China to teach English at summer camps and to help run charitable projects. All you pay is the cost of your ticket; all accom, food and travel is provided. The trip lasts just under 8 weeks (so you still have a month to chill/revise) and is an awesome experience both of another culture and country, and of how God uses us, teaches us and stretches us. For more information, or to chat about the organisation, please do send me an e-mail at laura.scott@bnc.ox.ac.uk

Climb Mount Kenya!

I am organising a sponsored challenge to climb Mt Kenya to help fund our training programme for church leaders in Africa. As a graduate myself, I certainly took for granted the training I was given, and the opportunity to benefit from trained christian leaders in church. It's quite shocking to read reports about church leaders who have never had any bible or pastoral training - and the difference that training can make to their congregations! Winter School in Christian Social Reform

The Jubilee Centre is in the bridge building business, seeking to connect the world of the Bible with the world of contemporary society… Biblical scholars often fail to connect with the modern world. Social reformers often fail to take the Bible seriously. The Jubilee Centre has a fine track record in avoiding both dangers Download the information sheet for their winter school at http://www.jubilee-centre.org/pdfs/Winter%20Singles.pdf

World, Word, Web...

I'm an old Oxonian (Worcester, '84-7), and have got together with some others to start Jellyvan (www.jellyvan.co.uk). We're trying to help even the smallest churches to use the web effectively, and using our regular client work to subsidise low cost projects. It's early days - soft launched last week. We'd love prayer, encouragement and feedback - maybe via blog on http://jellyvan.blogspot.com/ Thanks!
