Churches in Oxford

Below is a list of churches that we can recommend to you, along with their websites where you can get more information. Most of these churches run a course investigating Christianity, so please have a hunt around if you're not a Christian and would like to know more.

Don't forget to come to the 'Search for a Church' event which is happening on Saturday 0th week (6th October '07) which will include an introductory talk from Vaughan Roberts, a time of praise, and plenty of opportunity to meet with and talk to different people from the various churches.

• St Aldate's
  A large church seating about 500 for each service. Services at 10.30am, 6.00pm and a new late service at 8.15pm every Sunday, with good numbers of students at both. A student evening, "Risky Living", is every Thursday from 7pm and starts with a meal for the bargain price (suggested) of £2.50. More > www.staldates.org.uk
• St Ebbe's
  Services at 10, 11.30 and 6.30 every Sunday - the 11.30 is the "student service" though students can and do attend the others! Mid-week bible study, Focus, on Thursday at 7.30pm (also with bargain-priced dinner). More > www.stebbes.org.uk
• Oxford Community Church (OCC)
  A little way out of the city centre, still within walking distance of most colleges. As well as the Sunday morning service (10.30) an important part of OCC are the Cell groups, held on either Tuesday or Thursday evenings each week (though don't forget CU on Wednesdays!) • Woodstock Road Baptist Church
  A bus ride or a brisk walk north out of Oxford. Services at 10.30am and 6.30pm. Lunch provided after the morning service. Mid-week home groups. More > www.wrbc.org.uk
• St Andrew's
  Evangelical Anglican church on Linton Road, north Oxford. Holy Communion 8am, family service 9.30am, traditional morning service 11.15am, evening service 6pm. Mid-week groups and a weekly Globe Cafe. More > www.standrewsoxford.org/
• Magdalen Road Free Evangelical
  Independent evangelical church meeting in Cowley at SS Mary & John School at 10.30am, and at the Magdalen Road church building at 6.30pm. More > www.magdalenroadchurch.org
• Emmanuel Church
  Newfrontiers church launched autumn 2005. Meeting at Magdalen College School (Cowley Place) at 10.30am on Sundays. More > www.emmanueloxford.org
• Oxford Vineyard
  Contemporary, outward-looking church, meeting at Headington Girls School (OX3 7DT) at 10:30am and 6:30pm on Sundays, and at mid-week 'Key Groups'. More > www.ovc.uk.com

If you're a Christian, we encourage you to try and settle in a church quickly. Many colleges will arrange for you to be able to try several churches with other CU members in your first few weeks.
